Favorite Places ~ San Pedro

I was trying not to use pics of us this week, but this set of pictures taken at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro are some of my favorites. We must have looked like total goofballs running around trying to get these "quiet moment" shots before the timer went off. This was truly an act of athleticism on BT's part to get in this shot, and still manage to look like we we had been wrapped up in each other's embrace for hours.

San Pedro is our hidden gem. Given its proximity to the water, and a decent tourist base due to the cruise ships, you would think this would be a thriving little community. But, sadly, to us it seems like it is barely holding on. If you go, check for hours - a lot of restaurants are not open 7 days a week, and they roll up the sidewalks around 8:00 p.m. Things to see and do: 1st Thursday Artwalk, The Warner Grand Theater, Cabrillo Marine Aquarium and marine preserve, The Friendship Bell (fly a kite!), Fort MacArthur Museum (especially good during re-enactment events), Ports O' Call Village (not pretty at all - but an interesting cultural experience), or just drive around up the hill and oogle cute beachy cottages. To eat: Whale & Ale (bangers and mash!) or Papadakis Taverna (every woman gets a kiss from the owners - you may even be asked to dance!)

Next time you're there, check out 6th Street Bistro. And if it's a Saturday, see if there is any local music being performed at Rosalie & Alva's Performance Gallery - great local music venue (tiny!).
