Favorite Places ~ Disneyland

Truly, the Happiest Place on Earth. I cannot describe the feeling I get when I am there - I feel like I am 10 years old again. I still have trouble sleeping the night before we go. The familiar sights and sounds all bring back memories of our visits over the years.

I know some people take issue to the "Disneyfication" factor, and potential effects on society - especially children. I don't feel Disneyland should be used as part of this argument. It is, and always will be, a beautiful example of one man's dream incarnate. A place where all who visit can feel the wonder and excitement of a child - even if it is only for one magical day.

Oh yes, I know that feeling! I am like a little kid there. I have been to Disney Land twice and Disney World three times. In fact I went to Disney World on my honey moon because Luis and I are big dorks. :)

What a lovely photo! I know just what you mean, though. We went to Disney World twice and it was magical for us. Now we live closer to Disneyland and I can't wait to visit with my DD to see the magic through her eyes!

I agree with you that Disneyland is the fountain of youth....When I walk thru the tunnels under the train tracks, and emerge on the other side, I am eight years old and the world is a safe, fun, painless place again.

I can almost forget that I have lost people I love to death and crime, that my heart has been broken, that our world is sometimes a very scary place to live.

I can smile and laugh and skip down the street and play all day, and no one looks at me funny - because they are all doing it, too!!!!!!

Walt was not just a genius at marketing, he was a very generous soul to have created something this wonderful for the world to enjoy.

PS: You are making me VERY homesick with all of your posts!!!!

YES! While for me and my family it is Disney World (someday we'll make the long trek to Disneyland) I know exactly what you mean! Uncle Walt believed in magic for children AND adults -- in his day, "Disney" stood for unparalleled quality because that's what he cared about; the real commercialization of the company didn't come until after his death. Read "How to Be Like Walt" for great insights into the man and his vision (and fall even more in love with Disneyland, which really was his personal dream come true).

:( I have never been! waaah! i really want to go! i had a chance to go in high school when i was in band (we were marching in some parade in the area) but we had to pay for the trip ourselves. we coldn't afford for my sister and i to go so we had to stay behind. some day i'll get there! jerrett is already excited about it!

I agree. People think too much sometimes.

I love going there, it is magical... it is escapism... so what's wrong with that?

You know what? I unapologetically love Disneyland. I went there for my 30th birthday and my husband just took me again last month. And we don't even have kids yet!!!

I couldn't agree more with you. I will always love Disneyland(and give me the "Land"as opposed to the "World".

my thoughts exactly. Love the place. My daughter is 6 months old and was at Disneyland twice before she was even born. We are already trying to figure out the next time we should go.
