Eggs for Dinner?

There'll be some egg-citing crafts using eggs this month, but not necessarily using the eggy part. So, gotta find some use for 'em, even if it means eating eggs for dinner.

(English Crown Scramble)

Growing up, it was always a treat to have breakfast for dinner. My Dad was not really hip to having breakfast foods at a non-traditional time, so we would usually wait until he was gone on a business trip to have our French toast or scrambled eggs. It made us feel a little naughty - something fun just for us girls.

Ok - back to the eggs, and various crafts with eggs. I could be using the eggshells to make votives

These, however, are not made from real eggshells. I ran across a blog that was very against the use of ceramic eggshells for crafts...I apologize if you are reading this now. I am rather a clumsy type, and could not imagine being able to cut/crack the eggshells so carefully that they would be displayable. Then, coloring the wax and pouring it in the shells seemed just to be a pain in the arse to me. So, I bought these to display in my little egg holders. Got a little bit of a deal, even - saw a set of 6 at a boutique store for $15, and the next day found the same set at a grocery store of all places for $4.

If you are so inclined and capable of making your own votives, Martha has a how-to. If you want to save a little money and use supplies you probably already have around the house, see this site.

We were the same way -- when we got breakfast for dinner, it was a cool treat but it meant that Dad wasn't home!
That egg scramble dish pictured looks delish...I'm not usually a big egg lover, but that one might be a notable exception!
